Contest Rules

This contest is being played in the Canadian Provinces of New Brunswick (NB), Nova Scotia (NS), Prince Edward Island (PE) and Newfoundland and Labrador (NL). Please do not proceed in this site unless you are a legal resident of one of the Canadian provinces of NB, NS, PE and NL.

Official Rules:

The Sixth Annual Canadian Potato Museum Contest (the “Contest”) is offered by the Canadian Potato Museum, with co-sponsors including, but not limited to W.P Griffin Inc., Sobeys Inc., and The Holman Grand Hotel. The Canadian Potato Museum hereinafter will be referred to as the “Contest Sponsor”.

General Contest Information:

The Contest is being played at participating Sobeys & Co-op locations (“Participating Locations”) in the Provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland & Labrador. Only online entries are valid for this contest.

  1. CONTEST DATES: The Contest begins at the start of business on Feb 1, 2018 (the “Contest Start Date”) and is scheduled to end at the end of business on March 17, 2018 (the “scheduled Contest end date”) or when ever the participating product supplies are exhausted, whichever occurs first. The period between the Contest Start Date and the scheduled Contest End Date is known as the “Contest Period”.
     

  2. WHO CAN PLAY: The Contest is open to all legal residents of the provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland & Labrador who have reached the age of majority, 19 years (18 years in PE), as of Contest Start Date. Employees & Directors of Canadian Potato Museum and W.P. Griffin Inc. are not eligible to play or win prizes.
     

  3. HOW TO PLAY: You can enter to win the sweepstakes via online entry only. To enter, visit www.canadianpotatomuseum.com and click on the contest button. Follow the instructions by completing your name, address, phone number and the skill-testing question. Limit one online entry per person or email address per day. Online entries must be completed by 4pm AST March 17, 2018

    There will be one (1) Grand Prize Sweepstakes drawing to award a 3 day, 2 nights Island Getaway at The Holman Grand Hotel, ARV $1400.00. The Grand Prize Draw will be held on or about April 10, 2018 from all eligible entries received.

    There will be nine (9) Secondary Sweepstakes Drawings of gift cards (ARV $100.00 each) – redeemable to Sobeys –donated by the Canadian Potato Museum. These drawings will be held after the Grand Prize is drawn, on the same day.  There will be 50 tertiary prizes (ARV $20.00 each) – 25 prizes will be donated by the PEI Potato Board, and 25 prizes will be donated by the Canadian Potato Museum.  The Canadian Potato Museum will also be donating 2 admission tickets (ARV $10.00 each) for every prize winner.

 

SWEEPSTAKES PRIZE DETAILS: The Grand Prize will consist of a 3 day, 2-night holiday for two (2) people at The Holman Grand Hotel in a Holman Room. The prize will include accommodation (2 persons, one room) complete with $150 credit to Redwater Rustic Grille, $150 credit to Grand Senses Spa, $100 gift card to Confederation Court Mall, Confederation Bridge Pass - Donated by The Holman Grand Hotel (Total ARV: $896.50) and $500 which may be used towards travel – donated by Canadian Potato Museum.

RESTRICTIONS: All arrangements will be determined by Contest Sponsor and/or its designated agent(s). Reservations must be made thirty (30) days in advance of travel. Winners and travel companion are responsible for travel to and from the hotel. A valid credit card is required at check in. Certain blackout dates may apply. Accommodations and spa bookings are subject to availability at time of booking. Any transfers, taxes, fees, gratuities and all other expenses not specified herein are the responsibility of the winner. Prize is non-transferable and no cash substitution in part or in whole, is allowed except by Sponsor who may substitute a prize of equal or greater value should the advertised prize become unavailable. No compensation is offered for any portion of the prize not utilized; any portion of the prize not utilized and its corresponding value be forfeited. The holiday must be taken by October 15, 2018, or be forfeited in it entirety. No exceptions. This expiration date will not be extended and the Grand Prize can only be used in conjunction with this promotion.

Odds of winning any prizes depend on the total number of eligible entries received.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU ARE SELECTED AS A CLAIMED GRAND PRIZE OR SECONDARY OR TERTIARY WINNER:  You will be contacted by the Contest Sponsor or Administrators for the awarding of your prize. See paragraph four below.

  1. NOTIFICATION AND REDEMPTION: If you have been selected as a potential winner in the Sweepstakes Drawings described above, the Contest Sponsor or their appointed Administrators will notify you via email, postal mail or by telephone. Prior to awarding the Grand prize, the winner must sign and return within five (5) days of receipt the Contest’s Statement of Compliance, Release and Indemnity Agreement. In the cases of secondary and tertiary prize winners, acceptance of the rules and regulations on the contest form confirms your compliance with these official rules. The compliance of the rules and regulations thereby releases Canadian Potato Museum, W.P Griffin Inc., and Sobeys Inc., Sobeys Atlantic (a division of Sobeys Capital Incorporated), Co-op stores, any sweepstakes prize sponsors, sweepstakes suppliers, affiliates and agents and their respective directors, officers, employees, agents, shareholders, subsidiaries, and affiliates from and against any and all liability arising from or in connection with participation in the contest or the acceptance, possession or use/misuse of any prize. Grand prize winners must provide proof of identity (PHOTOCOPY) of Driver’s License, Passport, or any other government issued photo ID with the Contest’s Statement of Compliance, Release and Indemnity Agreement or the prize may be forfeited. If a potential winner fails to return the required Statement of Compliance, Release and Indemnity with proof of identity in accordance with these Rules or is found to have violated the rules of the Contest in any way, or if any prize or prize notification from Sponsor is returned as undeliverable, the potential winner will be disqualified and will be deemed to have forfeited the prize in question. In the case of the Sweepstakes prize, Contest Sponsor will hold a drawing to select an alternate prize winner.
     

  2. ODDS CALCULATION: The odds of winning any Sweepstakes Prize depend on the number of qualified entries received prior to the drawing, as described herein.
     

  3. PRIVACY: Contest Sponsor will be collecting personal data about you for the Contest and for purposes of the contest, validating winning submissions and for market research. If you enter the Contest, you grant Contest Sponsor permission to send to send Contest updates and winner notification, specials or promotions &/or newsletters/updates to you. You may at any time “opt-out” of receiving future promotion mailings from the Contest Sponsor, by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope with your request to “Annual Canadian Potato Museum Contest, PO Box 602, O’Leary PE, C0B 1V0”

    No such personal data will be transferred or sold to any third party except in the following circumstances:
      A)  When you give us permission to do so;
      B)   When in good faith we believe the law requires it;
      C)   Under limited circumstances specifically described to you when we collect the information, such as in the rules of the contest, sweepstakes, or other promotions;
      D)   To affiliated companies, provided that our affiliated companies and their agents and advisors and their respective employees are respective employees are restricted from using the information for any other purpose other than as described in these Official Rules; and
      E)  To our respective agents for data processing purposes, our respective professional advisors and promotional

Contest Sponsor may match aggregated, statistical use information to parameters established by third parties, without releasing user information. This information will not contain any personally identifiable information. Contest Sponsor may share aggregate information with trading partners, co-branded locations, participating sponsors and advertisers; however, this aggregated information will not contain personally identifiable information. Any requests for access to the information you have supplied, or to update or rectify your information must be made via prepaid mail sent to “Annual Canadian Potato Museum Contest, PO Box 602, O’Leary PE, C0B 1V0”

  1. PUBLICITY: Acceptance of the Prize constitutes permission for the Contest Sponsor to use your name, voice, picture, or other likeness for advertising, marketing, public relations, or other promotional purposes without further compensation therefore
     

  2. RESTRICTIONS: The following are prohibited and will result in automatic disqualification from the Contest: (1) using any method that artificially increases the odds of winning; (2) non-compliance with these Official Rules; and (3) any other act which the Contest Sponsor determines in its sole discretion, jeopardizes the integrity of the Contest.
     

  3. LIST OF WINNERS: The names of the major prize winners and a copy of the complete Official Rules are available by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope to “Annual Canadian Potato Museum Contest, PO Box 602, O’Leary PE, C0B 1V0”. Please specify “Rules” and/or “Winner’s List” with your request.


 

  1. GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS: Participation in the Contest constitutes the entrant’s (“you” or “your”) full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these Official Rules including the decisions of the Contest Sponsor, which are final with respect to all matters relating to the Contest. This Contest is void outside the jurisdictions specified in these Rules and where prohibited by law and is subject to all applicable federal, provincial, local, and municipal laws and regulations. The Contest Sponsor reserves the right to terminate or withdraw the Contest or to amend these Official Rules at any time, without prior notice. As a condition of acceptance of any Prize, the entrant, their heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns, RELEASE AND FOREVER DISCHARGE the Contest Sponsor from and against, any and all Claims (which term includes without limitation all costs and liabilities of any kind (including solicitor fees), actions, claims, causes of action, or proceedings for damages), INCLUDING ANY CLAIMS ARISING FROM ANY ACT OF NEGLIGENCE OF THE CONTEST SPONSOR, that the entrant now have, or may hereafter have against the Contest Sponsor directly or indirectly resulting or arising from: (i) participation in the Contest or the awarding, acceptance, use or misuse of the Prize, or my travelling to, preparing for, or participating in any Contest-related or Prize-related activity; or (ii) the publicity rights granted to the Contest Sponsor as described in the Publicity Release above. Any claim or dispute with respect to the Contest, the Prize, or this Agreement shall be governed by Prince Edward Island law and any proceedings in relation to any such claim or dispute shall be resolved exclusively by Prince Edward Island courts. If any portion of this Document is determined to be unenforceable by a court of law, all other parts of this Document shall remain in full force and effect, and that the conditions and covenants herein shall be binding on the entrants heirs and assigns.

    PRIZES SHALL BE ACCEPTED “AS IS.”  IT IS UNDERSTOOD THAT THE CONTEST SPONSOR HAS NOT MADE ANY WARRANTY, REPRESENTATION, OR GUARANTEE, EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO ANY WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, REGARDING THE PRIZE OR ANY SUBSTITUTE PRIZE. ALL ENTRIES AND PRIZE CLAIMS RECEIVED BECOME THE PROPERTY OF CONTEST SPONSOR AND WILL NOT BE RETURNED. CONTEST SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO CANCEL OR MODIFY THE CONTEST IF FRAUD, TECHNICAL FAILURES INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ANY PRINTING, REASONABLE CONTROL IMPAIRS THE INTEGRITY OF THE CONTEST AS DETERMINED BY THE CONTEST CANCELLATION/MODIFICATION, CONTEST SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SELECT WINNERS IN RANDOM DRAWINGS FROM AMONG ALL VALID ENTRIES/PRIZE CLAIMS RECEIVED AS OF THE TIME SUCH ACTION WAS TAKEN.

    The Released Parties are not responsible for any technical, hardware, software, or telephone failures of any kind, lost or unavailable network connections, or failed, incomplete, garbled, or deleted computer or network transmissions, or for entry requests, or prize claims that are stolen, illegible, incomplete, misdirected, lost, late, postage-due, damaged, or ineligible.

     

  2. All properly claimed prizes will be awarded. Prizes must be accepted as awarded and are not transferable. No prize substitutions or cash redemptions allowed except as provided herein. Total approximate value all available prizes: $3300.00
